Michael Cox, former attorney general now heading Livonia-based Mike Cox Law Firm PLLC, said the Blues’ Accident Fund can now package workers’ compensation contracts with property casualty lines, long-term disability, life insurance and even auto insurance.
“They can get into these higher-margin lines of insurance and bundle these products,” said Cox, who previously had sued Blue Cross to force the Detroit-based insurer to divest the Accident Fund that he claimed the insurer had improperly acquired.
